Well, it seems that [livejournal.com profile] the_gneech put a claw tip as to why ...

people are surprised at what I do.

Here is a verbatim transcript, on AIM, between him and I on that subject:
LowenKindRR
Question: Why do you think people are so surprised when they learn I'm in such a techincal field?

Gneech
No idea. Maybe it's just you seem such a "blue collar Joe" that they're not expecting you to be a gadgeteer.

LowenKindRR
That might be it. I seem like the "kid next door" and my knowledge knocks them for a loop.

Gneech
Ayup.

LowenKindRR
Interesting. I guess I never really tried to flaunt my tech knowledge, unless it was required. I keep my geekiness in check. :=3

LowenKindRR
Funny thing is that it just comes naturally to me. :=/

So, I guess that explains it. I just don't seem the sort to be in that type of technical work.

In other news, there was another trespasser fatality on the NEC today, just outside of Linden, NJ. :={

Another was Friday on the MARC Brunswick line, off the NEC. A MARC train hit the trespasser. http://mta.maryland.gov/advisories/safety-first-around-railroad-tracks
