this time to LionkingAMTK. :=3
Actually, I won't, but I might be working for AMTK, or Amtrak for those that don't know RR shorthand.
I was at G&G today, doing an install, and a friend pulled up. I hadn't seen him in about 5 years. He was surprised to see me and I asked if his company, Amtrak, was hiring any radio techs. Being he is one of the head radio guys he is the one to ask. He said they were, but I would need a General Radio Operators License from the FCC, and the jobs were in D.C. and NYC. He also stated that tests for the license was pretty easy and I could probably get one with no problem. I told him that I'd look into it. He then mentioned that it starts at $25 per hour with a boatload of bennies. :=3
That basically sealed it for me. I called Tony, who has been ignoring me :={, and told him what was what. I told him that if I don't hear from him by Saturday that I will be trying for the Amtrak job. BTW, my friend is the one who does the interviewing. :=3
As far as housing is concerned I would stay where I am for about a year after I get the job. THis is so I can settle things here, and sock some money away so I can move, probably to Delaware.
One nice bennie about working for AMTK is that I get to travel, coach, for nothing on Amtrak. ;=3
So here's hoping that everything goes ok on that job front. ;=3
