this time to LionkingAMTK. :=3

Actually, I won't, but I might be working for AMTK, or Amtrak for those that don't know RR shorthand.

I was at G&G today, doing an install, and a friend pulled up. I hadn't seen him in about 5 years. He was surprised to see me and I asked if his company, Amtrak, was hiring any radio techs. Being he is one of the head radio guys he is the one to ask. He said they were, but I would need a General Radio Operators License from the FCC, and the jobs were in D.C. and NYC. He also stated that tests for the license was pretty easy and I could probably get one with no problem. I told him that I'd look into it. He then mentioned that it starts at $25 per hour with a boatload of bennies. :=3

That basically sealed it for me. I called Tony, who has been ignoring me :={, and told him what was what. I told him that if I don't hear from him by Saturday that I will be trying for the Amtrak job. BTW, my friend is the one who does the interviewing. :=3

As far as housing is concerned I would stay where I am for about a year after I get the job. THis is so I can settle things here, and sock some money away so I can move, probably to Delaware.

One nice bennie about working for AMTK is that I get to travel, coach, for nothing on Amtrak. ;=3

So here's hoping that everything goes ok on that job front. ;=3

Woo, excellent news LK, GO4IT! :)

You'll ace the radio test I'm sure. And open coach travel? Ican't thnk of any perk that would make the Lion happier than that :)

Good luck with the test and the move to a new job. Just be careful and try not to burn any bridges along the way. I'd hate to think of you giving up being an engineer (for I know that means a lot to you) just to make more money.

Okay, before the hardrive seizes again. I'd go to AMTK even if Tony calls you by Saturday. You need the bennies, and the retirement. I wish you the best of luck. Even though, knowing the tester, you may not need it.
