Well, I didn't start the new job last night. I got a call around 7:30p from the boss that he wasn't doing the job. Seems there was a threat, which did occur, of severe thunderstorms. He'll work if it's just rain, but T-storms mean that we can't go on the roof for obivous reason.
Funny thing is, the storms ended right when the severe T-storm watch ended, and the time I was supposed to meet him, 10p. We would've been able to do the job anyway, at least from my vantage point. :=/

Tony, the owner of the RR, called me today. He wants me to go lube the bridge, no big deal, and to tell me thyere was a grade crossing acident with one of the RDC's yesterday. :={
Seems that a dump truck turned right in front of the train as it approached a grade crossing. No injuries and the RDC has "minor" damage. The train had some passengers on-board.
This clown was headed in the same direction as the train, side by sdie with it. I know the engineer, and he is very careful at crossings. Why the truck driver never saw the lights, which he claimed he did not see, or hear the horn is anybody's guess.
The dump truck belongs to a company that we've had near misses before. :={
The good news, following right behind the dump truck, and witness to the whole thing ...... a Cape May County Sheriff Deputy. ;=3
That driver is toast! He was issued a summons for disregarding crossing signals. :=3
Actually, we've been lucky. The CMSL has been operating for 6 years now and has had only 3 crossing accidents, none of them very serious. The worst one was mine back in 2000, with the van. That led to 3 people getting injured, but no deaths.
It is somewhat surprising we haven't had more incidents, as Cape May County, for those that don't know the area, can get very busy, especially on the weekends, with the shore traffic.
*****
Well, I'll be working my last week at McD's next week.
The manager is sad to see me go. She also agreed that the senior district manager didn't want to see me go.
It'll be inteeresting to see what happens this last week, especially Thursday and Friday.

Well that's all for now. :=3
