Update on SJ&W's "The Phantom". :=3
Oct. 19th, 2007 10:39 amSome of you may remember this post from April 10th where I wrote about the "unveiling" of the new "The Phantom" passenger train.
Well since I posted that story and pictures I have made major progress in modifying one of the Acela power cars to a diesel unit and the end "Business Class" coach into a baggage dorm. That mostly consisted of blanking about half of the side windows using Squadron White putty. I will be redoing the interior to show the compartments for the crew.
The hardest part on the power car was figuring out how to get the silver stripes, as they don't, as far as I know, make 1/32" wide masking tape. I think the way I did it looks neat.I did, however, order scale 1" & 2" wide decal silver stripes. ;=3
I just have to finish up some details and then paint the cars. I will also be painting a steam loco, of the same type that was pictured, and a PA/PB set in the same scheme, along with some cars.
It is nice to finally get the proper tools and the space to do the modifications.
Smrgol, Kamau you will see the final results, I hope, very shortly. I also plan to bring the finished equipment to MFF for the RailsnTails panel.
One note, the Acela power car is NOT an accurate version of the real turbine version of the Acela power car. It is more of an idealized version. Also this first loco is not perfect, as it is a more of a "proof of concept" trial. It will not be "scrapped", just one side will not be in too many photos. :=3
