Pic from Thursday
Mar. 23rd, 2008 12:32 pmHere is a picture I took, using my Verizon cell phone, of the west approach to Penn Station New York.
Click on photo for full size version.
This what an engineer sees when he comes out of the West Side Connection that leads to the old New York Central Hudson River line to Albany and points beyond. The WSC is the track immediately to the left with the right running rail almost dead center in the photo. The NYC Central Post Office is the building above the tracks.
The tracks to the right are the remnants of the old "A" yard. To the left of the WSC is another storage track. To the left of that are the tracks leading to the North/Hudson River tunnels to New Jersey. The tracks to the far left are the LIRR tracks to the West Side Storage Yard. They used to be stub ended, but the LIRR extended them to make the WSSY.
I have to go to New York again and this time I'll take my camera to get better shots.
