Irregular Update - update :=3
Apr. 21st, 2002 10:45 amOk, here is the latest news ....
The job at Mc D's is going ok. I like working the maintance gig. I have set hours and the wekkends off. ;=3
That last part is the major reason for me posting today.
Yesterday, Sat., 4/20/02, I was in the Ocean City, NJ Doo-Dah parade. I caught up with a lot of furs I haven't seen in a while, plus some new furs.
I met a lioness from Phila, Snow. ;=3 I also met Scruffy Coyote who is from CAlif and has been travelling across the US since 2/28! He has met alot of different furs and was very interesting to talk to.
I definitely need a new mask/head for my fursuit. The one I have now is too hot and uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. :=/
The parade was a success and I had a lot of fun. :=3
I had an interesting experience before and after the parade. ;=3
I had put my "Proud to be Furry!" pin (thanks Gneech) onto my fursuit. A woman came up to me and said, "I like your pin! Where can I get one?" I gave her the url for Suburban Jungle. Do I sense another latent "fur"? Could be. :=3
After the parade, about 3 hours later, Rapid T. Rabbit, Scruffy Coyote and I decided to go get something to eat with a few other furs. I decided to put my lion tail on, just for the heck of it. I was the only one with a tail on.* After we got done eating pizza, RTR, SC and I decided to wander the boards, with RTR and I showing Scruffy some of the sights and telling him the lore of the area. At one point we were talking and a woman came up to me and asked, "Where did you get your tail?" I told her that I got it at AnthroCon a few years back, and she says, "Well my daughter loves lions and tigers. In fact she thinks she's one." :=3
I said, "Well, you are talking to the right group." It turns out her daughter is 6 years old. Another new fur? Could be, again.
I heard no disparraging comments about my tail, or even saw any weird looks. I did have a few kids totally enthralled with my tail and a little boy even came up and petted it. :=3
I guess I have the type of personality that allows people to be comfortable with me and my tail.
That's it for now.
*= As I told RTR and SC, before I went to my first fur meet, and really got into furry, I wouldn't have dreamed wearing a tail, in public, other than in connection with Hallowe'en, which I had done before. Now, I'm totally comfortable about going out in "tail" at any time. :=3
BTW, when I was wearing the tail, I had on a black t-shirt with a "life size" full color lion's head on it and my "Proud to be Furry!" pin. :=3
