AC and other things.
Jul. 15th, 2002 03:15 pmWell, AnthroCon went well. :=3
I led Ion and Skipai over to AC Thursday night, but I couldn't stay as I had to work the bridge on Friday. :=/
One interesting note, for this rr'ing lion anyway, was just as I got to Amtrak's Philly's 30th St. Station, a new "Acela" was leaving the station, headed north. I have seen them "parked" at the station, and pictures of them "in action", but this was my first time actually watching one move. :=3
Friday I just about "bolted" out of the Bridge "Cabin", after the last train crossed the bridge and I opened it for boat traffic. I didn't want to miss any of the con. Made the trip in about 1hr 50 minutes. :=3
I got back to AC and went in the back way to make sure my Charity Auction donation was accepted. Unfortunately, this meant I missed the dinner trip with Galvan, his dad, Maus and Gal'ish. :={
Sorry Galvan.
I caught up with fellow "Dreamers" Maus, Gal'ish, Spotweld, Rhiann, and Marianne. :=3
We held an informal get together on Sunday morning, but I couldn't remember Spotweld's room number, nor did I see Zen L33T. :={
Hopefully next year I'll post a bigger notice so that all "Dreamer's" will know when and where to meet and I'll take room numbers down and not try to rely on my sieve of a mind. :=/
As far as meeting others, I got to see TygerMoon Foxx, Simtra, thier dog Fryjta (?sp), the Gneech, Mooncat and her mate Chad, and a host of others that are too many to name. :3
The con as a whole was great. Especially entertaining was the "Charity Auction", where we raised over $13,000 (yes, you read that right - thirteen thousand dollars) for "Partners for Life". :=3
The auction's highlight was when Uncle Kage tried to "weasle" out of his haircut saying there was no evidence of him making the "pledge". Much to his surprise, there was a fur with a video tape of his pledge in the audience and a video player in the AV area. :=3
The other big highlight was when it was time for his haircut at the "Closing Cermonies". :=3
Again, he tried to duck his commitment. This time by saying that only a licensed barber in the state of PA could cut his hair. Well, there just "happened" to be such a person in the audience. :=3
Uncle Kage now sports a nice "mowhawk" haircut. :=3
One final bit, I must thank my three roommates, Smrgol, Camstone Fox, and Kamau, for putting up with this lion. Those three along with a few others have made this lion's life a much happier one all the way around. :=3
A special thanks goes to a certain cartoonist, who goes by the nickname "the Gneech", for "twisting my tail" to get me into the furry community. John, I owe you a debt of gratitude that I can never repay. :=3
That's it for now. I'll post more later. :=3
