Well, it's been 3 weeks since I got that phone call to see if I wanted a job at WaWa.

I've been on the job for over a week now and everything seems to be going ok. ;=3

The people (co-workers) are friendly, the managers work with you and I'm finally getting a pay check again. ;=3

I will say one thing about WaWa, they take their training seriously.
I was put through about 21 hours of paid training before I was allowed to touch the gas pumps. They are that dedicated to safety and careful money mangament.
During the midnight shift, of which I am the only person between 11p and 5a, I am a "shift runner" for the gas side. Basically that means I'm responsible for everything that happens during my shift. I also work the second shift and there are days I'm shift runner then too. On midnights it's no big deal, but on 2nd shift it is up to me to see everyone is doing their job and gets their breaks when required. ;=3

When I'm shift runner I get an extra $1 an hour. I also get an extra 50 cents an hour between 12m and 5a for shift differential ;=3

I had to complete "Level 3" training to become a shift runner, that was one reason for all my training.
To work anywhere in the store you need to have "Level 1" training. To work the "fuel court" you need "Level 2" training. Those two levels are done in store, where "Level 3" training is done in a classroom atomsphere at a "Training Center".

There was a bit of humor went I went for my training. It seems that most of the people that went for Level 3 training had been at their store for no less than a monthy. When asked how long I had been at my store I said, "2 day". There was look of amazement on the faces of the instructors and other students, but then I told them I was newly hired for mid-nights on the fuel court. It was alos funny when they would discuss something that had to do with in-store operations and I just gave them a blank look and said, "Say what? I have no idea what you are talking about." :=3

I did shock the instructors though, I scored a 100 on my "Level 3" test. ;=3

Apparently they don't get many perfect scores on their tests. ;=3

In other news, I talked to one of my ex-coworkers at McD's. Apparently it is a good thing I left when I did. The store is a "mess". Debbie was promoted and Vickie now runs the store. This means Debbie's efforts in keeping a clean and well run store have come to naught.

Just by looking at the store I can tell you that the maintence guy isn't doing his job. There are still signs up that should've come down on 10/31, and one is falling apart. Some of the roof flags are torn and tattered. I'd hate to see what the kitchen equipment looks like. :=/

Seems a shame, but they had more than enough warnings, from me, that I was unhappy and was ready to quit.

Would I go back if offered a job? No!
First of all it would be near imposible to get that store back into shape in a reasonsable time. Second my job at WaWa is more flexible and if I feel like writing during slow periods, especially during 3rd shift, I can.

So that is the story to date. WaWa is working out and McD's is falling apart.
Sad to see those good employess at McD's having to endure that, but most of their good employees left before Debbie moved on.

Maybe that's why the store is the way it is, no good employees, who cared, are left. :=/

One last thing. As I was typing this someone knocked on my door to tell me my parking lights were on. This is not good. The last time I used the car was around 12n and it has been in the 20's all day. :={

I guess I better put the battery charger on the car now. :=/
