Cup Purportedly Thrown at NBA Star Draws Insane Bids

It's said to be the cup that launched seemingly a thousand punches.
An item listed Monday on the Ebay auction site was purportedly the plastic cup thrown at Indiana Pacer Ron Artest on Friday -- setting off the biggest brawl in American sports history.

The bidding was closed Tuesday when it spiraled out of control -- with the final listed price at just under $100 million dollars.

There was no way to prove the authenticity of the cup, listed for sale by someone from Sterling Heights, Michigan.

Artest charged into the stands at the Palace of Auburn Hills after being hit by a cup, triggering a brawl between players and fans.

-------

People are willing to pay $100 million (US) for a plastic cup?!?

Look, first of all this item can't be verified. It could be cup from the concession stand that never made it to the arena floor. Heck it may not even be a cup from that arena.
Second, it is an item that started a brawl, not the Holy Grail that Jesus drank from. I hate to be cynical, but I believe that the Holy Grail wouldn't fetch that much money.

I shudder to think of what this world is coming to when they want to spend that much for a plastic cup, that has no significance in world history, but will not spend one hundredth of that in helping their fellow man.
