Dinner with the lion. :=3
Jul. 23rd, 2013 07:57 pmI don't normally do these, but tonight's dinner turned out pretty tasty, if I do say so myself. :=3
Now I normally don't plan what to have for dinner ahead of time, so nothing is defrosted, though there are exceptions.
Tonight on the drive home I was thinking of what to have for dinner. "Hmm. Pork chops with onions. That sounds good. I can also steam some of that broccoli."
So, after I got home I made the following:
2 small to medium pork chops. Mine were still frozen, but defrosted would probably work better.
1 medium to large onion sliced
2 cloves of garlic diced
5 broccoli florets
Double ground mustard
Ginger
In a large fry pan spread about a tablespoon of oil, I use Wesson. Put over medium heat.
As that is heating slice your onion and dice your garlic.
Also get your pot full of water boiling and put your steamer on top. I have bamboo steamers.
When the oil starts to sizzle drop your chops into the pan and cover with a lid.
Put your broccoli in the steamer and reduce to medium heat.
After about 5 minutes turn your chops and put in the onion and garlic.
After about another 5 minutes turn your chops once again and sprinkle the mustard and ginger over them.
Now it is just stirring things around until the onions get translucent and the chops brown on both sides.
When the onions and chops get to that stage you can lower the heat if a gas stove, or if you have an electric, like me, turn the heat off, and turn off the heat to the broccoli. Please note that I like my vegetables crunchy.
Get your plate and serve yourself the broccoli and chops with the onions and garlic.
What to have as a beverage? In my case I went with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Desert was a nectarine.
Other than no grains, I think that qualifies as a pretty healthful dinner, especially one thought up at the last minute. :=3
