After reading more on Vue 2014 Complete I found that I can specify the number of lumens per light and the lighting temperature.
With this render I duplicated the point light in the kitchen light fixture, moved them both to the correct locations for bulbs. I then color corrected the lights for incandescent bulbs and set the lumen value at 770 for each light; a value I got from a package of 60 watt light bulbs in my house.
I feel this render more nearly duplicates what a real scene would look like.
The only possible change is to get rid of the slight reflectivity on the ceiling/wall.
It seems the E-On software, the maker of Vue, has changed the lighting model to be more scientifically accurate.
