Fresh juice

As some of you may recall I gave up drinking large quantities of Diet Pepsi back in January of 2012. Since then I been drinking water or water flavored with lemon or lime. I tend to use a "sport bottle" and cut the fruit into pieces and shove them into the bottle. A little sugar and load it up with fresh water and you have a very refreshing drink that is good for you.

Well a week or so ago I got to thinking about a juicer my parents had when I was younger. I couldn't recall the name, but I knew it was chromed, had a clam-shell action, had a removable juicer plate and a cup that the juice went into. I knew those last two pieces were cast aluminum.
I called my father and he barely remembered it and said it hadn't seen it in a long while. I then called my one brother, who has a fantastic memory, and he knew exactly what I was talking about, though he couldn't remember the brand, nor had he seen it in close to 30 years.

I searched e-bay and came up with something close, but it did give me brand and model names: Juice-O-Mat by Rival Mfg. Co. I did a Google on "Juice-O-Mat" and "Bingo" there was the juicer I remembered.

So after doing a bit of a search I found one on sale on Etsy. I bought it and got it yesterday. :=3

It is exactly like I remembered, even down to the oxidation on the fruit platform and cup. :=3
The unit is in perfect condition and I washed the cast aluminum parts in hot soapy water, just to be safe.

Here are a couple of pictures of the Rival 1950s era Juice-O-Mat:

So, I was able to purchase a part of my childhood memories. :=3
I need now to get some fresh lemons and limes. I already have some oranges.:=3

Note: This post is to replace one I accidentally deleted. :={
