If the parties to a dispute agree to have it resolved under the terms of Sharia law, courts have generally been sympathetic. The same goes for any other religious body of law, be it Catholic, Jewish, or whatever. This applies to civil proceedings, not criminal proceedings. If the terms of this religious law are repugnant, courts have the option of not blessing them.
