lionkingcmsl: Me at the controls (Geep)

As you may recall back in August Irene decided it would be nice if I had a foot (30.48 cm) of water in my basement. This meant some of model railroading equipment got submerged.

Within a week I checked the most expensive equipment and they survived the bath. The rest, ~37 odd lot locos, [livejournal.com profile] u_t_tiger and I put in the "party room" of the shed to dry out. And that was were they sat until Wednesday. I then put them in a box and brought them inside.

Well today was such a nice day I decided to check them out on the back porch. Model railroading doesn't mean you can't enjoy a nice day. :=3

The results are as follows; there are ~6 dummy units, 28 locos are okay, though some need to be "tuned", which would need to be done before I put DCC decoders in them, 3 units need motor replacement. One of the three is an AHM GG-1 with a 3 pole motor. Another one of the three didn't run before the bath as it had no brushes.

So out of the locos that got a bath only two came out of it not running. Not a bad average I think. Fouty-five locos got the bath, of which 6 were dummys, 1 did not run to begin with, so that leaves thirty-eight powered units of which two need major repairs. That is ~5.25% failure rate.

I know, I know. If I had gotten to them sooner those two engines probably could've salvaged. :=/
