Most of you know the story of the movie It's a Wonderful Life; where Clarence, the angel, shows George everyone who he has touched through out his life.

Sometimes, you don't need an angel, at least one you can see, to have that kind of enlightenment, as I did yesterday.

I was doing an install and talking to another employee about some of my experiences in different jobs. At one point I was explaining how I over did a reaction to something and became very formal to fellow employees, but to patients, I was an EMT for a transport ambulance service, I was my genial self. We had one call where the patient was maybe 6 years and old and he was in a full body cast. My heart melted and the facade vaporized. That boy didn't ask for what had happened to him. The parents and my partner were discussing how to move the boy to the stretcher. I looked at all three and said, "Like this." I then slid both arms under the boy to cradle him and picked him up and moved him in one fluid movement to the stretcher. Four pairs of eyes were as big as dinner platters and four mouths were on the floor. No one expected that! :=3

It was after I told him that story it dawned on me, yes, I have had a positive impact on people in various times in my life. Yes, I know, other people have told me the same thing, but telling that one story that one time hit me with a "clue-by-four". I don't know why telling that story before has not had the same effect on me. Possibly the universe said, "Look! You do help people!"

I wonder whatever happened to that boy. I hope he made a full recovery and is enjoying life to its fullest.

*hugs* Speaking as someone else who has had to wait for time-delayed epiphany, congratulations. May joy be yours. :)
