Yesterday the RR had a one way charter, from Cape May City to Cape May Court House. I had to run the bridge for the dead head move into Cape May City and the charter headed north. I was out of there by 11:15a.

Now what to do? I didn't feel like driving back home and sitting at the 'puter.

I know, I'll go fishing! :=3

After calling Tony and making sure he didn't need me for anything, which he didn't, I locked up and headed to where some of the head boats are moored.

I had gotten an invite to join one when the daily trains were done. I headed over to that one, but there were no other customers for their 1:00p trip out. :={

The captain told me to go to another boat, that I knew the captain of, via the marine radio.

I headed over there and introduced myself to the captain. He introduced me to his mate and said, go ahead on board.

I settled in up near the bow and after we were under way the mate came up and asked if I needed a rod, which I did. Now, you have to realize there is normally a charge for rod rental, unless you happen to be the bridge operator for the CMSL. :=3
Yepper, no charge for the lion, though I did contribute $2 for the pol to the largest fish caught. While we were out there I started getting sick from lack of food, I didn't really eat right, and the hot sun. I asked the mate what kind of soda and how much. He mentioned he had Diet Pepsi, and everyone knows of my Diet Pepsi addiction. He came back and said, "It's not super cold, but it's super free." :=3

I went back later and got a bottle of water, which he waived the cost of also. :=3

I spent the day with the line over the side, talking to the captain and just relaxing. :=3

"What did you catch?" you ask.

Well, I caught a baby snapper blue that was thrown back, the sinker (lead weight) as I tried to untangle my line, my finger (just the tip of the hook and not that deep) when I tried to re-bait my one hook, and another person's line. So I batted a perfect .000, though everyone around me was catching fish. I really didn't mind, as I was going to give any fish I caught to someone else, as I didn't have a way to transport them home, and I had a good time. :=3

As I was leaving I gave the mate a dollar tip for his help.

So what could've been a expensive trip, ~$55 or so, only cost me $3. Not bad at all for an enjoyable day on a smooth, peaceful day on the Delaware Bay. ;=3
