Well, I called Sprint and they told me that the phone was probably dead. They also told me to take it to a Sprint store and tell them to look up my account. There would be codes on my account for a free replacement phone.

So, Friday I head into the Sprint store, in Mays Landing, and told them what they told me. The rep told me that he would still have a tech take a look to see if it could be salvaged. I wasn't to hopeful, but if they could salvage the phone I would be overjoyed.

After a half hour they told me that is was un-fixable (no kidding) and the warranty had run out (no joke, the phone is 5 years old). However, the LCD has a lifetime warranty and I would get a free replacement under warranty repair! :=3

Now, it's not the same model, they don't make it anymore, but they could transfer all my numbers to the new phone. I told them I would be leaving on Wednesday (today), and they said to call on Tuesday to see if the phone was in.

Fast forward to yesterday. I called the store around 12n to see if the phone was in. They said no, they don't normally get shipments until after 3p on Wednesdays. :={

I go home, after tranny died on company van, but that is another story, and just killed time at the 'puter.

I get a knock on the door and I turn to see UPS leaving. I check and there is a box by the front door. WTF? I'm not expecting any packages. It turns out Sprint shipped the new phone to my house!

Now you have to realize that all they shipped me was the phone. No battery, no instruction guide, nothing but the phone. I think they thought it was a replacement in kind. :=/

They did however give me a $15 coupon for a new battery, however.

So, off I go to Mays Landing (about a half hour drive), to get them to transfer the numbers and get a battery. I was going to demand that the battery be free due to the screw up in shipping and that it wasn't a replacement in kind.

I get to Mays Landing, and they said battery would be no problem (however it is a "shop" battery: i.e. used). There would be a problem in getting my numbers transferred though, as their tech was leaving. Great, just great. :=/

I asked if they would call the Vineland store to see if their tech was still there, and what time he was leaving. They did and he was there until 6:30p. It was now 5:30p, or so, and I had a 45 minute drive across country to get to the store, that I wasn't sure of its location.

I get to the Vineland store (which is about 15 minutes from my house) at about 6:15p. THey put the two phones to the tech for "phone book transfer". After about a half hour the tech came out and said, "No dice. The old phone is not connecting to the computer."

Actually, I had seen this coming, as the old phone's bottom contacts are pretty corroded.

So here is the deal, while I have a lot of numbers on a list and e-mails, there are some that I don't have backed up. So, if you had given me your number, or wish to give it to me now, please comment here. The comments are screened so only I will see them. I will unscreen them if no phone numbers, or other personal info, is in the comment.

Alternately, if you will be at MFM this weekend, look me up and give it to me there, or, if you have my cell number, give me a ring and I can save it that way.

Note to Skipai, I already have your's saved, as well as Chik'ki's. Sci, I need to know if the one I have for you is current.

Well if they couldn't connect to the old phone then not even the software I spoke of would have saved what you had. I'm sorry you're losing all the numbers and ring tones. Hopefully you can rebuild them and be back in operation soon.

See you later today.
