More on the Amtrak job front.
Dec. 1st, 2005 03:44 pmYesterday I get a call, while the phone was in my car and I was working on the M-407, from the guy who interviewed me.
I returned the phone call and he told me that he cannot "officially" offer me the job up at Sunnyside, that has to come from HR. He then told me that he will be "pushing" that through and that they will also push to move my "office" from Sunnyside to Penn Station, NYC. 8=0
I will still be seeing Sunnyside enough, but my official place of employment will be Penn Station. I guess they are doing that because I will be commuting in from Philly.
All in all it looks like they don't want me to "escape" from them. I mean a person with my qualifications and experience doesn't appear to often I would guess. ;=3
He also told me he needed some more info. He needed my SSN and that Philly's HR forgot to have me fill out a job app. Up to now it had all been my resume. He said I could come in or have them mail one to me. I told him I would be in early Friday (12/2) morning and I would go to HR and have them call him. He said to call him directly when I got to Philly. He wants to meet and talk some more with me. :=3
I asked him about tools and other equipment; i.e. would I have to supply my own. He told me that I would be part of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and that all my tools and other gear would be provided to me. The radio side is one of the few crafts that has this done. I'm not allowed to bring anything of mine, short of my cell phone, and laptop, for commute use only, onto the job.
Today I get a call from him. He wants me to bring my radio license with me tomorrow, so he can make a copy of it. :=3
With what was told to me yesterday, and my conversation with him today, it is looking really good. :=3
I also half expect a trip up to NYC tomorrow, so he can show me what I'm going to be involved in.
So, if everything is moving as quickly as I think it is, I may be working for Amtrak before Christmas. :=3
