Wow! An update! :=3
Feb. 19th, 2006 06:15 pmYes, I'm still here. ;=3
Due to a problem with Verizon, on their end, my phone ended up getting shut off. It seems that they had my Zip Code (Postal Code for non-Yanks) screwed up and my phone bills kept getting bounced back to them, since October. As for me, I never gave it a thought that I wasn't getting a phone bill. I didn't see them, and it never registered I wasn't seeing them. :=/
Anyway, they finally got a hold of me, via my cell phone and after my house phone was shut off, and confirmed my addy. When I told them they had the Zip Code wrong, they said, "Well, we did try to call you, but nobody answered." I replied with, "Did you leave a voice mail? I do have voice mail with you and that would be one phone call I would've returned promptly." It also dawned on me that they never tried to contact me by my cell phone before that time. D'oh!
Anyway, after I paid the outstanding balance my house phone is back on.
Also I finally got myself a DVD player. :=3
It seems I was in a local Pathmark supermarket, right down the road from my shop in Sunnyside, and I saw a Pink Panther DVD (Vol. 2 of 3) in the "bargain bin". I picked it up and bought it, knowing full right well I didn't have a DVD player. I'm a huge fan of the PP and no-way I was going to let this go.
I talked to Smrgol and told him what I did. He told me to go to Best Buy and pick up a "Cyber Home" DVD player that retails for ~$40. Yesterday I did so and lucked out. It seems that yesterday was the last day to purchase said DVD player and be eligible for a $10 rebate for the unit. So the unit lists for $39.95 and after the $10 rebate I will only have paid $29.95 for a DVD player.
This player, which is a TV unit, is pretty good for the price. It does S-Video, and the newer style, as well as co-axial sound. It also plays JPG's, audio CD's, Video CD's and much more. Yeah, I'm happy with what I got, even if I forget to mail in the rebate form. ;=3

My player reads all apart from dvd-ram but ah well, who needs dvd-ram anyways.

Date: 2006-02-20 03:58 am (UTC)I think you'll be very happy with that DVD player. Great piece of equipment and it will play any region to boot. Of course this also gives your friends a new item to buy you as gifts. I see a DVD storm in the not too distant future.

Date: 2006-02-21 02:32 am (UTC)Just wanted to say I went to J Mason Tomlin too (Infact I live within a five minute walking distance from it currently) and I even went to Centre City School for a year when JMT was being rebuilt. :) We have a lot in common. ^,-,^
