Big news. :=3
Jul. 9th, 2006 11:37 amIf you read my last meme you might have noticed that I put in "buying a house". That is not a wish/error. :=3
I have put a bid on a place, that is located about a half mile from where I live now. :=3
This place is a expanded "Cape Cod" with 4 bedrooms (two of which will be used as an office and a sewing room), a finished basement with bar, in-ground swimming pool, tiki bar area, a 90x24 foot converted chicken coop and, best of all, is on 2 acres of land. :=3
The lot is basically a 160x544 foot rectangle.
Only the front 3/4 acre has been maintained in a cleared zone, the back 1 1/4 acres has been overgrown.
The price? They are asking ~$235k and I'm offering about ~$222k. Yes, I've been pre-approved for at least that amount. :=3
It is a good feeling when one can be pre-approved for that much money for a house, and to possibly get one so I don't have to pay rent anymore.
This also means that if anyone wants to stay over there will be one guest room and plenty of floor space. No more trying to cram as many people in to a small living room. The family room, where the bar is located, is 12x33. :=3
So, next year the party may be at LK's and Altaica's place. :=3

Date: 2006-07-09 08:10 pm (UTC)Also, as you and I discussed, with that back area unused, it would make a great "Garden railway", though that could be done near the pool, or a excellent 7.5" guage live steam railroad.
Just think, I could use full sized signals, operating as intended, on a live steam layout. Forget about dispatching H-O scale trains, we are talking dispatching trains that are 1/8th the size of the real thing (about 10 times larger than H-O (1/87th)). :=3
