Something I've been working on.
Sep. 26th, 2009 09:03 amOne day, a while back, I thought about why Cape May County would always be a "second class" resort area compared to Atlantic City. It dawned on me that there were no convention hotels or hotels with meeting areas, save "Congress Hall" in Cape May City, which is out of the reach for most groups.
Yes, there is the Wildwood Convention Center, but there is no hotel "attached" to it. Just the motels across the street.
I sought to fix that by designing a hotel that had enough meeting space and a fair number of rooms. This is to be located on the NW side of the CMSL grade crossing on NJ Rte 47 in Rio Grande.
Here is a quickie render using basic blocks for the hotel:

Note that this hotel is 8 stories tall and 110' high at the penthouses. The first floor is 16' tall and all other floors are 12' floor to underside of floor above.
There are 72 guest rooms for floors 3 - 7 inclusive and 32 suites and 8 regular rooms on floor 8. That puts the hotel at 400 rooms.
In the rear you can see where the Grand Ballroom and other large function spaces and "back of house" areas are.
On the 2nd floor are the offices and the smaller meeting rooms. I still have to figure out where to put the pool, spa and health club. ;=3
Most of the basic hotel is laid out, though I have not laid out the "Back of house areas", as I am not, in any way, qualified to even begin to design them, other than to say "Here is where it is located".
BTW, since I have been part of the groups that constantly wait for elevators at differing cons, other con goers will be happy to know that this hotel has 8 guest elevators and 2 service elevators.
BTW, I don't think that this hotel will fit on that plot of land mentioned earlier. :=/
Let me know what you think. ;=3

Date: 2009-09-26 05:14 pm (UTC)This would be a boon to the Cape May Fur-meet.
Hmm...fur meet. Elevators. Double the amount.
And what will it be called?
CMFM should have a 24 hour

Date: 2009-09-26 05:43 pm (UTC)As for the name: I was casting about for a rail themed name and came up with The Pullman Hotel.
It recalls the luxury and upscale of Pullman travel in rail's heyday. BTW, the main exterior visual element will be a restored Pullman car. ;=3
