So far 2003 has been good to me. ;=3

First things first though.
In respect to me not calling people, I resolved that delimma back on 12/21 or so.
I finally talked to my mother and she set me straight. ;=3
Leave it to mom. ;=3
Now to the subject of the post.
After I had quit McD's I had a feeling all I had to do was make it through 2002 and possibly a week or so into 2003 before things improved.
I couldn't have been more right. ;=3
About 10a on 1/1/03 I got a call that surprised me. It seems that the local "quickie mart", WaWa, gasoline manager was looking through his "old" "apps" looking for someone to work the midnight shift. He asked if I was still interested. I said yes, I was. He then set up an interview for 9a this (Friday 1/3/03) morning.
I went in and he told me some things about himself and he had me tell him things about me.
He then said, "I'm supposed to go through this long interview, but I only have one opening and one interview. See that red line up there?" He was pointing to a schedule above his head. "That's your schedule for next week. You still interested?"
I replied, with a laugh, "If I wasn't I wouldn't be sitting here."
"True enough," he agreed.
So I was actualy hired before I walked in. ;=3
So, starting on Sunday I'll be gainfully employed again.
Nice thing is with the midnight shift, other than than the extra $$$ for shift differental, is that I can do anything I want after the lot is swept and the trash is picked up, and three will be two or three guys working that shift.
So that means if I get the urge to write or draw, and it's not busy, I can. :=3
Hurray for 2003!!! ;=3

Nearly a decade ago, I needed to hire a financial person. I wrote a procedure for the process, with the help of a management consulting firm--this decision was important! We drafted all sorts of scroing sheets and questions to ask.
First interview, second interview, then the management consultant would take a shot at the candidate, then the final interview of the selectees after the spreadsheets of weighted attribute scores were carefully calculated and compared...
...That was the plan, anyway.
Instead, the first candidate comes in for the first interview, and fifteen minutes later I'm showing her where her office is. And that was the best hiring decision I've ever made, and it seems to have worked for her too.
May it work as well for you.
