Note: While I would appreciate if my friends did the following, most of my posts are public anyway, so posting them anywhere else is sort of redundant anyway.

WARNING: To those that make a lot of "Friends only" posts, please read the following.

PLEASE DO NOT ARCHIVE MY BLOG ON FRIENDITTO. NOT FOR ANY REASON. NOT EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU'RE MY VERY BEST FRIEND. DO. NOT. DO. IT.

Frienditto.com is a site that allows anyone on your flist to archive your posts, whether they are protected posts or not. This sounds to me like complete and utter bullshit. If I post something privately or make a protected post, I want it to stay private, because it usually has to do with me blowing off steam with people I trust and thus, doesn't need to be out in public. (That's the whole point of a friends list, now ain't it?)

Ditto. Same goes for me.

--------------

This to let you know that this site does exist.

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!

Anyway, there’s a new website called Frienditto.com. [livejournal.com profile] xydexx says:

“Frienditto is a website which claims to archive entries on LiveJournal (even friends-locked ones... if you give them your password... heh heh heh). It turns out it is actually a scam being run by the ne’er-do-wells at LJDrama. Several people have already had their journals fucked up because they thought Frienditto was legitimate.

“I guess the obvious lesson to be learned here is don’t give your password out to strangers on the internet.”

Even more info can be found in a post by [livejournal.com profile] postvixen HERE.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON.

Enough said I think.

Hmmmm.

Has enough of a stink been raised as to shut "Frienditto.com" down?

While trying to access it for haha's, I got this screen instead:

***************************************

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache/1.3.26 Server at www.frienditto.com Port 80

******************************************

I wonder if it means anything other than server overload.

Edit: As reported by [livejournal.com profile] ditto_cop someone hacked into frienditto.com and apparently crashed the server. Here is the link with large screen shot of the hack! While I do not support hacking in any form, this, somehow, seems like justifiable irony. ;=/

So it seems that this all has been a big "practical joke" by [livejournal.com profile] postvixen. :={

It is noted, however, that "creator and owner" of LJDrama does say:

"But part of your wild rumor mongering contains SOME truth. I am the CREATOR AND OWNER of LJDRAMA and I am CURRENT ROOMATES with the creator of the INFAMOUS LJ CRUSH MEME. We sit around ALL DAY thinking up NEW WAYS TO BE MEAN TO LJ FURRIES."

So, unfortunately, I have also been drawn into someone's twisted idea of humor, although unwittingly. ;={

The basic premise still rings true though: "Never give your sensitive information to anyone you don't know or trust."
