At Atlantic City International Airport, South Jersey & Western Air's base of operations, the president of SJ&W Air introduces the airline's newest airliner.

"I am proud to introduce our newest jet; the Boeing 717. This series will replace our venerable 727s. While the 727 is still a work horse, newer noise abatement regulations, wages for the flight engineer and fuel costs have led us to consider replacing that series, as we did when we replaced the 707 with the 757.

“As we did with the 707 we will keep some 727s on hand for special occasions and special needs. Not all the 727s will be retired at once, as we will have a phase in period to introduce everyone to the new airliner.

“At South Jersey and Western, both divisions, we look to the future, but we will not forget our past.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I give you SJ&W Air’s 717.”
