Well, the railroad ended it's first week of daily service with out major problems other than the A/C crapping out on some of the cars. :=/

One thing you have to realize that although it is A/C, a standard A/C repairman has no clue on how a passenger car's A/C system works.

Yes. the principles are the same, but these systems are not like anything that you have seen.

Fortunately today we had a guy come out that had 17 years working on Amtrak equipment. He definitely knew his stuff. ;=3

One car down, two to go. Actually one just needs to have its system fully charged.

There is a third car that I'm waiting for new blower assemblies to replace the ones that self-destructed due to a "quick fix" when a motor went. :=/
Before you ask, no, it wasn't my "quick fix". I'll be repairing it not quite the way it should be done, that would require a double ended motor in between the two blowers, but in such a way that I'll never have to worry about those blowers again. :=3

We had hoped to get this car in service for the "Fireworks Express, but there is a 10 day lead time for the squirrel cages. :=/

Those that know of my never-ending bridge battles will be glad to hear that the bridge has been operating flawlessly. (I hope I just didn't jinx it), that it is almost scary.

Also the boaters, who normally are on the marine radio complaining about the bridge, or wondering when it is going to open, have been noticeable by their absence, both on the radio and in the canal. Seems to be less boaters this year. Of course the season has just started and it has been very hot.

It could be that the down turn in the economy has forced the "weekend warriors" to cut back on their boating.

The CMSL is now leasing two F units and the Alex DeCroce (ex New York Central #37 Tap/Lounge) Snack Car. We've been running with one F unit, facing south, the Alex DeCroce and the M-407 (Budd RDC) for our normal trains. We have finally gotten a MU cable to connect the RDC to the locomotive, so we can use the RDC as a cab car. It's a pretty sight watching the train come across the bridge southbound. :=3

To wit:

The Mermaid #303

The "Fireworks Express" should look awesome with the F unit, the Alex DeCroce, one coach and the RDC as a train set. :=3

Otherwise not much else to report.

Oh, for those that normally attend, don't forget about July 5th at my lair. :=3

Hey, neat!!!

I had a train set as a kid (no clue where it is now) that looked exactly like that, only the engine was also gunmetal gray, about the same color as the passenger cars. Darn thing was pesky as all heck to play with... the connectors were these tiny little nubbins that were supposed to fit inside the much larger sockets of the female end of the coupling. And considering the surface I had to play with them on was gold french knot carpet (I'm sure you know the kind, with the patterned alterations between large and small...), they didn't get much use. I was incredibly fond of them, all the same.

Well, the cars are in shadow and they are actually stainless steel. ;=3

Model railroading and carpets don't mesh very well, as you found out. :=/

As for scale model railroading, I have a small 4' x 8' layout with over 475 pieces of rolling stock, in H-O scale.

I also have some "N" scale and "S" scale American Flyer equipment.
