I had posted a memorial to my mom on You Tube. The video has "Taps" as its sound track.

GoDigital MG For a Third Party had claimed copyright infringement due to them "administrating" "US Army Ceremonial Band-Taps", sound recording.

I disputed their claim due to the recording was done by U. S. Army personnel in the course of their official duties, therefore the music was not copyrightable, because anything done by the U. S. federal government, or its employees in the course of their official duties, is in the public domain.

Well, I just got an e-mail saying that GoDigital MG has released their claim. :=3

So, yes you can beat back unreasonable copyright claims. You just have to know the law. :=3

Hallelujah!

I watch Law and Order quite a lot and lawers scare me - there's no way I could stand up to one. What's it feel like to make one or more lawyers eat humble pie? XD

Satisfying. When you know you are in the right, then you can get things done.

Lawyers are mere humans. They are fallible. I have a friend who is a lawyer, and it is nice to have him to clarify points of law. :=3

I'm glad you were able to fight back =0) Legal departments of businesses can be particularly heavy-handed.

I remember reading a story of an IT professional who registered the domain name "veronica.com" to showcase photos of his newborn daughter. Archie Comics threatened legal action against him, but backed off when the media picked up on the story.

Such behavior is one of the reasons I stopped reading Archie's SONIC THE HEDGEHOG comic book. If they're going to act that way, they don't deserve a dime from me.

I stopped supporting Archie Comics after what they did to Dan DeCarlo regarding the live action "Josie and the Pussycats" movie.

*snickers* That was the OTHER reason I stopped giving Archie my business.

Finally.....

Now if we can stop this stupid Apple business of trying to stifen all competition by petty patent lawsuits... :p

Ah well, I'll wait until around 2020 or something for the US Congress to catch up and start looking at Apple with it's Anti-Competiveness activities like they did with Microsoft.

For me, I'll get Samsung just to annoy Apple, don't like stupid Patents but then again I really hate the way the US Patent office seems to give patents for such stupid reasons these days.

Patent a double tap.. Come on, please..
