After re-reading the Poser Pro 2012 manual and finally understanding how to make "light emitting objects", I think I finally got this scene's lighting level correct, and with shadows.

The only room lighting is from the "light panels". The 16 spots are off. That was the problem before: both the light panels and spots were lighting the scene.

There is a subtle difference and I like how this lighting lends texture to the walls.
