A surprise in the mail.
Dec. 20th, 2012 11:55 amThose that really know me know that each Christmas I get a Swiss Colony fruit cake from my mom, aka Santa. Now don't look at me like that. Swiss Colony fruit cakes are really rich and delicious.
So I figured with my mom passing this year I would not get any more packages, unless my aunt picked up the tradition.
Last night as I arrived home, I saw there was a familiar square box, with a larger rectangular box wrapped with it, sitting next to my mailbox. That alone nearly brought me to tears, but when I saw it was from my dad I nearly lost it.
To receive that simple fruit cake, from that address was almost too much to bear. I didn't realize my dad paid that much attention to what my mom did each year.
And the other box was a cheese/ham gift box.
