Well, I went over to the store to see what the outcome of my actions last night was.

As a precaution I had my uniforms with me.

I had to wait for a manager to come to the front counter. While I was waiting, one of the employees said she saw that I had a "write up" from last night and she did too, so I shouldn't worry. I commented that she didn't walk out though. All she said was, "Oh."

The 2nd Assist. Manager came up and told me that the manager would have to talk to Lori, the manager that was on last night, before a decision could be made. She then asked what the problem was. I laid it all out. She didn't comment, but she became thoughtful. She then told me to wait for Vicky's call.

I then left to get some money from an ATM, I forgot $4 on the kitchen counter, so I could get breakfast. I went back to the store and ordered breakfast. The order taker asked if I was coming in tonight and I told her what happened. she said that she hoped everything would work out.

As I ate breakfast, I made a decision. I figured I would save them the decision and possiblity of doing something that would set a precedent. I went to the car and got my stuff. I went back in and waited for Vicky. The same order taker asked what I was doing. I told her and she replied, "I hope they can work things out for you. They'll be losing a good worker." A couple of the other girls nodded their heads in agreement.

Vicky then came forward and told me to follow her outside, so she could have a smoke.
She asked me what the problem was. I told her that maybe "I care too much". She said that's not possible. I then told her about Saturday night and last night. She agreed that I did the right thing by "sliding" down to get the buns to put the condiments on them. I was following procedure, no question. I also told her that I went to VA on Sun - Mon to get way from the store and to give everything a fresh start last night.

I reiterated that I took full responsiblity for my actions and that I would accept any punishment coming my way. I also said that I didn't feel good about leaving the store in a lurch, but if I didn't leave right then, there would have been blood spilled. I took the lesser of two evils. She agreed with me on that.

She refused to take my uniforms and told me that the day crew needs workers and I'm available at any time. I agreed with her on that. She still has to talk to the two other managers to see what should be done, but the feeling I get is that she doesn't want to lose me. She also wants to talk to the district manager, who I know likes me, but she won't be back until Sat.

So now I wait until later this afternoon, when I'm supposed to call her between 3 and 4p to see if I should come in tonight. I did tell her that this one person is scheduled, so she knows of the possibilty of further conflict, even though I don't want it to occur.
