A literal "bear in the air". :=3

For those too young to know about C.B. slang, or non-North American viewers, a "bear in the air" refers to a police officer in a helicopter, or sometimes a light aircraft.

The "gumball machine" (police warning light) was created using three different cylinders and applying the proper materials.

LOL! I get it.

If I remember correctly the expression "bear" for police road patrol (helicopter or otherwise) originated with Smokey and the Bandit?

I like this one as much as the cheatah on the jet-bike. This one being brighter I can see more detail. I really like the shiny uniform.

Smokey and the Bandit did not originate the expression, but popularized it. The term was heard in C. W. McCall's Convoy, of which the movie is loosely based, as, "They even had a bear in the air."

The expression comes from some state police departments wearing "Smokey the Bear" hats.
