My birthday ...

was on Friday. Thank you to all that wished me a happy birthday. ;=3
This is the point I would write something about my life or some such, but I'll pass on that for now.
Thursday and Friday were interesting. First you have to realize that I commute with three other regulars, plus the train crew every morning. On Thursday one of the regulars had baked a batch of fresh blueberry muffins, and all made sure to sit near me. She had baked them in honor of my birthday, as one of the regulars wouldn't be there on Friday. The gang wished me happy birthday and even sang the song. I was slightly embarrassed, but a sense of gratitude was there. I had read of regular commuters doing that for each other, but to have it happen to me was a different experience, in a good way. :=3
Friday was weird. In the morning my car started fine, as well as going home. No warning lights or anything. I made it home and called
u_t_tiger to see if he wanted to join me for dinner. He demurred so I put off getting anything to eat for a while. About 9:30p I decided to get something to eat and tried to start my car. When I turned the key everything died and nothing came from the engine compartment. Odd. So I opened the hood and "jiggled" the battery terminals. Still nothing. Now the battery was at least 4 years old, as I got the car in late 2009. So it was time for a new one. My birthday dinner consisted of a can of Spam heated in the microwave. :=/
Saturday I had to jump-start the car with my lawn tractor, which has a 12 volt electrical system. After getting the new battery and installing it the check engine light went out and the ignition switch, which had been acting weird, gave me no problems. I can only surmise that the dieing battery had been throwing faults to the car's computer causing the check engine light and locking up the ignition switch.
Now to get the rear brakes fixed and a new timing belt.

Date: 2013-10-01 10:27 am (UTC)I'll have to think ahead to what I should buy for myself when my own birthday comes. Something with dark chocolate and either strawberries or mint I expect (can't eat cake anymore).
