Did you detect the sarcasm?

Last night I started a load of wash. Something I do as it does take a long time given the low capacity of my well. As I was laying in bed I thought the well pump was not sounding "right". I went to the washer and it was trying to fill for one of the final rinse cycles, but no water. I shut off the washer and figured I would let the pump build up pressure and re-start it once I got up. Then I heard the pump stop. I said to myself, "I hope the pump didn't just die." I went to see if I had water pressure and it was as good as it gets. I then tried to re-start the washer and no dice.

I then went downstairs to see if maybe the valve for the washer was not passing water, as I had to replace the hot water valve earlier this year. It was flowing, but there was barely any water in the hose. I went back upstairs and pulled the washer out to pull out the water strainer for the washer. It was clogged solid with rust. I really need to hook up the water filter. I cleaned it out and said a prayer that I would have water. Hot water ran fine, but no cold. I set the load setting to small, as the water level was almost to that point, and let it fill the rest of the way with hot water and let the washer finish.

So I now have to figure out why the cold water isn't flowing. Hopefully it is just a clogged hose, which hasn't been replaced since I got the washer.

Funny thing is I was thinking about getting a new washer as this one only has two load settings: "Small" and "Super". Sometimes the "Small" setting is too small and the "Super" setting is too large. The washer is about 14 years old, so it gave me a good run through two moves and three houses. I'm thanking God that the load was only bed clothes from the guest room and I had done my regular laundry earlier in the day.

And now I need heating oil. :={

On a job related note, as I told some people, I think I may have figured out why Amtrak hasn't contacted me and my profile on the Amtrak Careers page still list my applications as "Under Review". I think Amtrak has a "90 day rule". That basically says that if you leave the company voluntarily that you can't come back until you have been away from the company for 90 days. I know other companies have that rule and it wouldn't surprise me if Amtrak does as well.

Just say a prayer for me that I get a job before the end of the month.
