is looking more and more probable. ;={

I'm in over my head with about 2 grand in CC debt, utlity bills, etc.

I need to know if anyone out there has had any experience with it.

Do I lose everything I own, except the house, which I rent?

Will I be able to keep my computer? My trains? Do they come and just take everything save for my clothes and basic kitchen wares? Some of the stuff in the house isn't mine, but on long term loan, or I'm holding for safe keeping, like parts to an interlocking machine for the RR.

Yes, I am scared.

Is there a Consumer Credit Counseling Service near you? You may want to give them a call. If one is available in your area, they can negotiate with creditors on your behalf and set up a payment schedule that lets you maintain a decent lifestyle. I can't say I've been there, but I know people who have. I'll keep good thoughts for you!

Personal bankruptcy is a very bad idea. No they won't take everything, but they will take alot.
2 grand is not bad, I myself have a much worse debt load, and I'm doing the alternative to bankruptcy.

Contact me directly LK and I'll help you as best I can in getting help that won't have you loose anything.

...[livejournal.com profile] beau_wolff about bankruptcy. His asshole still looks worse than goatse.x, and is likely to be that way for the NEXT FIFTEEN YEARS.

Debt counselling, credit counselling, debt assistance...you name it. ANYTHING but bankruptcy! Believe me when I say this, go so far as to sell DRUGS before going into bankruptcy. Not that you ever would, but it's THAT FUCKING BAD!!!

The ONLY people who ever get away with bankruptcy are people who have personal assets somewhere in the millions. Everyone else gets an asshole that looks like you got bolted to a glory hole at a truckstop on I95. Bankruptcy does NOT NEGATE ANY FINANCIAL OBLIGATION!! Don't believe the radio or TV adds, they're a fucking lie. You get a bankruptcy lawyer-who still has to be paid when it's all over-only to find out that you STILL have to pay back all the bills. And now you have a bill from the lawyer to pay.

The only thing it does is protect your house and some of it's contents. We're nowhere near as bad as the UK where the bailiffs can come in and take whatever they want, but it's still pretty gruesome. And they'll also take your car/truck, so now you're out of work and even worse off.

DON'T DO IT.

I don't give a flying fig if Tony is your bestest buddy in the whole world, tell him you're up against a wall, and if he doesn't shit some money-LIKE ALL THE BACK PAY HE OWES YOU-then you're going to go under. And even if he doesn't owe you back pay, he owes you just because of who you are and what you've done for him the last God-Only-Knows how many years.

Talk to Tony and let him know that you're in trouble and you need help.

I say do what the others say. I don't know what the procedure is in the states but the UK is worse for this. If it does come to baliff's. Er, make sure you know your rights on both the state and federal level. Also make sure that you know what belongs to you, what doesn't belong to you and have proof of ownership etc. So that they don't take anything that doesn't belong to you.

But I would go and see these places and Tony as well. But bankruptcy is the worse thing that you can do.

But as to the home, they can't do anything about that and you don't have enough debt to even affect the home anyways but since it's rented it's out of their reach to take. The landlord had to be in debt for that to happen anyways and I think there are laws to protect the rentee anyways.

On a more personal friend note. I see what I can do in sending some money, it won't be much but I will see what I can spare myself. I give you a call later in the week.

I have lost a house to foreclosure and looking at another foreclosure soon as well as owe like 10k in CC bills
Money not coming in is really rough. It does bring depression to the extreme. But look to what you can do to save money. Where else can you make some bucks and pay off what you can.

I don't know what your source of income is but look for an additional job for a while to suppliment what you are making now. You can do it. I think I am finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel myself.

You can do this I am sure.

Good luck and Hugs!
