Ok, I want to know what south Florida did to make the hurricanes take an interest in it so much this year.

First there was Bonnie. Not much damage, but it was still there.

Second was Charley. The first hurricane in over 40 years to strike the west coast of the state in that particular area. A Cat. 4 storm that came in with almost no warning, and proceded to rip up the state from Punta Gorda (basically no longer there) to the Daytona area.

Now we have had Frances pound the south central part of the state from east coast (Miami) to west coast (Tampa) and now is taking on the panhandle.

Next up it seems that Ivan is taking a course that will have it pass over the keys and southern tip next Saturday or so. The forecasters are saying this can become a Cat. 5 storm very soon.

Is someone trying to wipe south Florida off of the face of the earth?
It sure seems like it. :={

I saw it on Sky News weather about 1pm this Afternoon in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. It would seem that the weather is taking a turn for the worse this year. Let's hope that it's the last of the big storms for this season.

Hello! Catching up, I see you've had an interesting time of it recently. Glad to see you doing better.

Florida gets about 40% of all hurricanes that hit the US. It ... is shaped like a sore thumb, and sticks into the stomping grounds of tropical Atlantic storms.

The current activity is what is best remembered -- but Florida has had some bad years. Andrew, Beulah, Cleo, even David.

FL is getting it's ass kicked this year with one like almost ever weekend. Ivan will be the 4th within 4 weeks. I had to leave Tampa and come home to Sarasota, not much damage in Sarasota compared to Tampa.

Easy. Ivan is down to 110 miles an hour and loosing steam. Let's hope that it keeps loosing steam because from the way they are predicting the thing missing Florida and slamming into some of the other southern states makes me a tad nervous. My folks live in Louisiana and all Ivan has to do is swing a little more westerward. Believe me, I'll be making a few arrangements for folks coming this way or your's truly to head south, wheelchair and all.
