Back from MFM
Sep. 7th, 2005 03:28 pmI'm not going to do a blow by blow report.
Kamau and Smrgol dropped me of here, at home, at around 12n (actually I was behind the wheel from north of Baltimore to my house, as I know the route by heart).
It was a great trip with three good friends, who put up with my mood swings. Thanks guys, you rock.
As forMFF MFM itself, it was great, even with the problems caused by Katrina.
Some highlights:
Shockwave and I hitting off, puppetry wise, during Friday night's puppet show. His vixen, Vi O. Lent, and my tiger, Shere Conrad, co-emceed the show and the ad-libbing that we did was just remarkable. We work off each other well.
The Sunday masquerade when a bunch of puppeteers, me included, did "Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?" in tribute to the Gneech and The Suburban Jungle. To hear the audience roar with laughter when the silhouette of Tiffany was lit and the opening bars were played was pure heaven.
Meeting the fur friends I haven't seen in a while is always a great thing. Also meeting furs that I've always wanted to meet, like Kheetor and Loxely. I think they found I'm much sillier in RL than on-line.
The Sunday night fursuit games were great, where my team won two of the three events, and I got an award. :=3
Visiting Tiger Haven to see the big cats up close. Mind you we remained at least 10' back in most instances, but to be so close and to hear those lions roar was bliss.
Some of the more sobering times was knowing that there were still evacuees in the hotel, even though Tyger Cowboy, the Holiday Inn, the MFM staff, and meet goers did everything to try to give the some hope and levity to their lives.
Also seeing convoy after convoy head west on I-40 in Tennessee, as well as Red Cross volunteers who had set up shop in the VA Welcome Center, reminded the four of us that things were still chaotic on the Gulf Coast due to Katrina.
Will I go back? YES!!!
I enjoyed my time there and will go back for more.
