This railroading lion is more than a bit peeved.

I want to know what gives people the idea that they can shoot paintballs at anything they want to and why people with quads, dirt bikes, et. al. feel they can ride anywhere with immunity.

We were "paintballed" today. The train was hit a total of 8 times, 7 on one side 1 on the other. When I returned, with train and cop, no-one knew who did it. I then explained that messing with, or shooting at, railroad equipment of any sort, including signs is a felony, which it is. Several sets of eyes got very large. I think that they thought the worst it was was a "disorderly persons" offense. Not so. Anyone who is not authorized by the railroad to be on, around, or otherwise "messing" with railroad property is facing a felony conviction with possible time in a federal penitentiary.

The quads/dirt bikes/etc. are an on-going problem. I stopped one today, in my car, and he said that the railroad only had one train running and it only did 30mph and he could see it coming. He didn't want to hear the facts that we have more than one piece of equipment and that he was trespassing. He seemed to think it was his "God given right" to ride wherever and whenever he wants to. I have one question to dirt bike/quad owners. Is it stated anywhere that you can ride anywhere you want? I know for a fact in NJ that they are to be used on private property only, and then only with the owner's permission.
Just once I would like to ask, and get, their home address. I would then take my car and run it up and down their front yard. When they come out and yell at me, I will tell them, "Well you ride on private property when you ride your quad/bike/whatever along the railroad, and feel that you are above the law. So I'm just doing what you do. Rriding on private property without the owner's permission because I feel like it. Turn about is fair play, is it not?"
Of course I would be arrested while the quad owner would be free to ride along the railroad.

RETURN FIRE!

Just the same as it's a felony to fire upon a train, you would be perfectly justified to RETURN FIRE in defense of same.

Granted, paint-balls guns are non-lethal, so you would have to respond in kind.

Rock salt.

Hurts like FUCK and is totally non-lethal. You'll never be bothered again. And if anyone complains?

"They shot me!"

"What were you doing on the tracks?"

"Uhhhhhh...but they shot me!

"They shot you when you in the middle of the woods, doing what exactly?"

"Uhhmmmm...they didn't shoot me."

Although that is a tempting solution, it is not very pracitable. :={
There reasons why:
1. I'm not allowed to have weapons on the train.
2. It is very hard to aim and shoot while doing 30 mph and still keep an eye on up coming crossings.
3. They are on the opposite side of the train from me most of the time.

As for having the Conductors armed, not on your life with the two we have now. ;=/
A certain red wolf would've been a candidate, but one of the two we have working for us would probably put a blast in the ceiling of the car, if not shoot himself in the foot.

I would rather se police officers riding with us at various times. I would like to see the "Perp's" face as a uniformed officer stepped off the train. ;=3

Ideally, I would like to have the Lion's Den and her sensors tracking the train. At the first sign of trpouble have them "Transported" to either the LD or the local police station. Can you see them trying to explain how they just appeared at the police station with a paint ball gun or quad/dirt bike in their possesion. Or trying to tell some one that they saw bipedal talking animals on a star ship. ;=3

Yes, I can be evil when I want to. ;=3
