what is up with the spelling of the word "the" as "teh".

Now, an occasional misspelling I can understand, but I see it time and time again on different forums, LJ's, and in chat.

So what is with "teh"?

I know, unless I type without looking, and the occasional "teh" gets by me, you will never see anything, written by me, with "teh" purposely subsistuted for "the", except in things like this.

I'm somewhat of a grammar "Nazi". Hey, writing a book was the best English teacher I ever had. :=3

I also hate to see people use "site" for "sight" (i.e. He was a site for sore eyes., instead of He was a sight for sore eyes.)

It also bugs me when people get then and than mixed up as well as effect and affect.

Now, I'm not saying I'm perfect, because I'm not, but, as anyone who has ever followed anything I posted will know, I go back and edit anything I've done, if I can, to eliminate typos, misspellings and wrong word usage. That's the type of person I am.

It is through, not thru as some people shorten it, proper use of language do we make ourselves better understood.

Thanks, Plonq, you basically said what i was going to. Sorry for not being clearer, Smrgol. It's not the trans-atlantic linguistics that annoy me, it as, as Plonq says, the deliberate substituation of s for z, mostly at the ends of plural words.
